A New Type of Christmas...
This is the first Christmas my sister and I have had as a split family. Our parents are in the process of going through a divorce, and that's a whole other story. But, that's beside the point... We spent Christmas Eve at our moms and spent Christmas Day at our dads. It was weird not having that "family unit" together, and on top of that this is our first Christmas without our Poppy. So not only did we have the double Christmas's but we also were missing a very special person. My mom and grandma made the most out of it for us though, my grandma made me my Thanksgiving dinner that I had missed because I was in Florida, as well as my all time favorite chocolate cake that she makes. So we made up for that, but usually we spend Christmas morning at home with mom and dad and then go to my nonny and poppy's house for Christmas Day dinner and presents. This year we spent Christmas Eve with my mom at my grandmas (where she lives now) and spent the night and then came to dads. This is something that both of us are going to have to get used to. Everything being split is going to be difficult but we will get through it, and we will do it together. No matter what we are all family and we are all stuck together no matter what. We just gotta make the most outta everything that comes our way. So even though this Christmas was weird and different we made the most of it and still went through it with a smile on our faces.
